129 McKinley Drive, Lido Key, Sarasota

Most Lido Key lots start clear. This one came with a mature banyan, and the design had to answer to it.

Elements built the pool and outdoor environment around the existing canopy rather than removing it, which is the harder and better decision. The banyan gives the property something no new planting can buy: real shade and real age, on an island where almost everything is recent. The pool sits inside that canopy, serving a compound of three separate but connected residences.

An outdoor space that inherited its best feature and was designed to deserve it.
